A man was on Friday (September 22) convicted at Edinburgh High Court for the murder of Alex Forbes in Kirkcaldy.
Adrian Hynd, aged 51, was found guilty of stabbing Alex at a flat in Victoria Road on 2 January 2017.
Alex, who was aged 25 from Edinburgh, and two other men went back to Hynd’s flat to continue drinking after meeting during a night out in the town.
The two other men left around 3.45am and at around 5am Hynd called emergency services claiming to have stabbed Alex in self-defence.
Detective Chief Inspector Keith Hardie of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team said:
“Our enquiries established that Alex had been the victim of a frenzied attack and I have no doubt that Hynd, fuelled by alcohol, meant to cause Alex severe harm.
“We welcome this conviction and I hope this verdict helps Alex’s family as they continue to come to terms with their loss.”
Hynd is due to be sentenced at Glasgow High Court on October 30.
