Counterfeit currency warning

We are urging businesses throughout the Kingdom to stay vigilant for counterfeit notes after several incidents over the past few days.

On 26th November, staff at four premises in Rosyth and Dunfermline reported receiving fake £50 Bank of Ireland notes, which were used to make small purchases.

On 27th November two incidents were reported where £50 First Trust Bank (Irish bank) were tendered – again for small purchases.

Staff are advised to check any notes they receive thoroughly and report any incidents where counterfeit currency is used.
