From Amazon Dunfermline to Amazon Seattle

Amazon invited employees at our fulfilment centres across the UK to tell us what they like best about working at Amazon and why it is the right place for them. More than 800 employees from across the UK and dozens from each site took part. One person from each fulfilment centre will visit Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle this October as part of the ‘I Found the Right Place’ programme.

Alexandra was the lucky Dunfermline employee chosen for the trip. Fulfilment centre Associate Alexandra, who has worked at Amazon for almost four years, wrote: “I haven’t been to America before so I am very excited about this trip and seeing our headquarters.

I love working at Amazon because I find myself doing something different every day and the people I work with are like my family.

I am now looking forward to studying for my CIPD with the support of the Career Choice programme at Amazon. I believe Amazon is a great place to work and I encourage people to apply and hope I can continue to enjoy many more years.”

During the five-day trip to Seattle, Alexandra and Amazon colleagues from sites across the UK will be shown around the city and enjoy a trip up the Space Needle. They will also go on a tour of the Amazon campus and the robotics fulfilment centre in Kent, Washington, where they will meet Amazon’s Chief Scientist.

Alexandra said: “I enjoy the encouragement which Amazon have given me over the years and when I needed to cut down on my hours to look after my dad they were very flexible. This gave me more time with my dad so he could stay in his own house!

The benefits are amazing too. I participate in the private pension, critical illness and medical cover which gives me great peace of mind for myself and my family.”

Alexandra also said that she likes that Amazon supports local communities through charity donations and that the senior management are very hands on with this.

Graham Allison, Site Leader at Amazon’s Dunfermline fulfilment centre said: “We take pride in providing a positive workplace and a great environment and I am delighted that Alexandra will be jetting off to Seattle for the trip of a lifetime.”
