Police will be using a combination of mobile and static road checks to target uninsured drivers.

Drivers found to be breaking the law face points, fines and having their vehicle seized and potentially crushed.

Our partnership with the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) has been successful in the past – in 2016 we seized in excess of 8,000 vehicles.

Drivers who break the law by driving uninsured will be charged and face either receiving a Conditional Offer fixed penalty of £300 and 6 penalty point endorsed on their licence or being reported to the Procurator Fiscal. They also run the risk of having their vehicle seized and in some occasions crushed.
