Two people have been charged with drug offences in Methil

Two people have been charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act after police in Fife carried out enforcement activity in Levenmouth.

On Tuesday 21st November, officers working as part of Operation Prospect carried out a day of action, where they targeted two addresses in Kirke Park and Ivy Grove, Methil, following intelligence relating to the controlled drug Xanax.

Xanax is a minor tranquilizer. It is not prescribed in the United Kingdom and is classified as an illegal Class C drug.

As a result of this action a quantity drugs were recovered.

The men aged 37 and 43 will now be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for drug offences.

Sergeant Paul Gillespie, who led on this Operation Prospect Day of Action, said: “We want to make it abundantly clear that drug crime of any kind will not be tolerated in Fife and through Operation Prospect we are continually obtaining information from the public to identify those involved in the production and distribution of harmful substances and remove these individuals from our communities.

“Tackling drug offences is one of our top priorities in Fife and we robustly assess and progress any intelligence we receive to bring drug dealers to justice.
